A-List Artistry's Bridal Makeup 2016 Year in Review Part 1

2016 has been our biggest, most fabulous wedding season in our almost 8 year history! We've been so honored to be a part of so many fabulous women's weddings. And I just found out, because of all of the love and fantastic reviews our brides have written for our services on wedding website,The Knot, we've been awarded Best Of Weddings 2017!
To celebrate, I wanted to share some of our favorite bridal photos from the year. Then I realized how many there are that I love. So this is part #1.

Meet January bride Whitney. She had a Winter white wedding thanks to Mother Nature.

Makeup for Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom Part 2

The response to our first Mother of the Bride makeup post has been overwhelming! And it prompted many brides to send us photos of their moms after we did their makeup the day of the wedding. The post is one of the most viewed postings on our blog, which lets us know two things.
1. Our brides LOVE their moms!
2. Moms definitely have a concern about how they will look if they chose to have makeup done the day of the wedding.
We get it! We know the wedding process in itself is overwhelming. Choosing the "Mom" dress can be a challenge in itself. So putting the moms beauty needs in the hand of professionals can take one thing off the To DO list the morning of the wedding. We'll create a look that will leave her looking refreshed and polished.

Holly, owner of A-List Artistry was my make up artist for my engagement photos and wedding day. She is phenomenal and truly a pleasure to work with!! When I told my photographer who I was using, she was thrilled because she said that Holly does (and did for me) a wonderful job where she does not have to touch up skin in photos. My make up looked great through the entire day and my look suited my style very well. Holly was always very responsive and better yet, provided tips (that you would never think of) and an emergency checklist to get your head around some things you need to remember on your wedding day. She is punctual and stuck to the schedule we put together which helped the day start off on the right foot. Holly is super friendly and easy to get along with and also extremely flexible, as our start time for make up changed the week before and she was willing and able to accommodate. She is very talented and versatile in the looks she can provide, however, she does pay attention to the brides overall desired look for the day and does a great job with creating a cohesive look for the wedding party. A- List Artistry charges for a trial, but if you plan in advance you can utilize the trial when you get engagement photos taken, as it worked out great for me! At the trial, Holly made several notes and then she does a sketch of the make up on paper to ensure she is prepared and remembers what you discussed (attention to details). She also will offer advise and will not steer you in the wrong direction! A-List Artistry offers a touch up kit which I recommend as I definitely used. I was very impressed with A-List Artistry, specifically speaking in regards to Holly, and would highly recommend her to anyone! She is someone you will want on your team for your wedding day as she will help you remain calm and put you at ease!

Fall Wedding Makeup with Leah- Frog Pond Bed and Breakfast, Skaneateles NY

I think the best way to blog this bride's experience is through her own words in a review she wrote about us. Five stars is what we strive for and we're glad we delivered!

Holly and her team were recommended to me by my trusted hairstylist and they did not disappoint. They arrived exactly when they promised and were set up promptly without any questions or help from myself or my bridal party (as most brides can attest, having people ask you dozens of questions the morning of your wedding can be a little nerve-wracking--their calmness and professionalism really put me at ease.) Holly and Christina proceeded to complete a total of nine applications--myself, six bridesmaids, my mother, and mother-in-law-- beautifully, flawlessly and right on schedule. Being a less-is-more believer when it comes to everyday makeup I was a bit worried that I would look too "made-up." Holly really understood my concern and I could not have been more thrilled with the result of my makeup--I looked like me, just better. My makeup lasted so well throughout our entire wedding day (12+ hours from the time I got made up to when the reception ended) that I never reapplied even a slick of lipstick the whole day. The lashes Holly used are beyond words. They are so feathery and so beautiful, dozens of women at our wedding were dying to know where I got them and how they could get them too. Another incredible thing about Holly and her team is their versatility. While myself and some of my bridesmaids are minimal makeup wearers, I had some people in my party with very glamorous much more daring makeup styles. They were able to deliver a more dramatic look for those people while still fitting in with the overall look of the bridal party and not taking away from my look as the bride. Work aside, their personalities are so geniune and so nice--they truly are so happy to be a part of your day. I felt nothing but positivity from them and am looking for any excuse I can find to hire them again. Can't say enough good things about them!!

It wouldn't be  October in  Upstate New York without a little snow. Yup. Snow.

A-List Artistry in Ithaca NY? YES! A-List Makeup Artist Christina has moved to Ithaca!

You may have heard. Our own makeup artist Christina is ENGAGED!! With Christina's recent engagement, she is joining her fella, and future hubby, in Ithaca as he furthers his education at Cornell University. So it makes perfect sense to have her as our lead makeup artist for Ithaca, Elmira, Corning and Binghamton.

We're excited to have a makeup artist based in Ithaca, as we book a number of clients, both bridal and commercial in the area. Plus it's wine country! Who doesn't love that!
Christina has been an artist with A-List Makeup Artistry for four years. Clients rave about her professionalism, warm personality as well as her skill as a makeup artist,

Christina from A-List Artistry was such a joy to work with. She created an elegant, beautiful look that complimented my wedding gown perfectly. Her contributions to the energetic, blissful environment were much appreciated. In addition to the Bride, she made sure everyone felt beautiful; from the Flower Girl to the Matron of Honor, whether they received her services or not. I would highly recommend A-List Artistry!

When I was looking for a makeup artistry, I specifically asked for someone that has experience on doing Asian bride makeups because I had some bad experience before and I didn't want to ruin my big day. Then I found Christina. Christina was great. She listened to what kind of look I want, and went from there. She also thought about some possible ways to make me look even better at her own time. She was very professional and did a great job on me and everyone else that needed the makeup service that day. My mother-in-law felt beautiful the entire day. I would highly recommend A-List Artistry for your makeup service. They won't disappoint you!

I wish I had enough words to explain how much fun it was working with Christina. She has such a positive energy and a lovely smile, it makes you forget all the big day's stress. She is very talented and flexible. She listened everyone's wishlist very carefully and made great suggestions. The end result was beautiful on our multicultural bridal party with different skin complexions and facial features. I have worked with her in two separate occasions now. I would not even think about searching for someone else if I need another make up session for a different event. I love you Christina and Holly for your constant support, help, flexibility, love, and joyful atmosphere you create! -Tumay
In addition to bridal makeup, Christina specializes in commercial and corporate work ranging from magazine covers, to ad campaigns, to television broadcasts.

Sandra's Mirbeau Inn and Spa wedding makeup in Skaneateles NY

One of the reasons I love Mirbeau Inn and Spa is it is such a serene environment for a bride to get ready in. I was so happy Sandra agreed to have her makeup done on the patio area outside of her room. Natural light is the best to do makeup in and the location gave us plenty of light!
And imagine my surprise when photographer Mary Buttolph was climbing in a tree to get this shot!

The gardens make a beautiful backdrop!

So many fun and unique details!
I totally have a thing for posting brides shoes. I love how the shoes can show a bride's style and personality!
